Membership

Membership categories:

  • Regular one-year membership - $35
  • Regular three-year membership - $100
  • One-year student, retired, or unemployed membership - $20
  • Three-year, student, retired, or unemployed membership - $50

We invite Pacific Islanders to join ASAO for a yearly renewable membership at no cost. We do this, in part, in recognition of the long-term social relations that anthropologists have had with Pacific Islanders and the fact that our research careers are built on these relationships. However, if Pacific Islanders choose to pay regular membership fees they are welcome to do so.

Current and Past Members: Use the link above for a generic form and just enter your name, e-mail address and  in your contact or other information. The form can also be used to preregister for the 2013 meeting in San Antonio at a reduced rate (deadline for preregistration: January 20, 2013).

PAYING BY CHECK: Once you have filled out the form, print it and send it by post, along with a check payable to:

ASAO or ASSOCIATION FOR SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY IN OCEANIA, and send them to Mary McCutcheon, 2115 N. Rolfe Street, Arlington, VA 22209.

Also send an electronic copy of your form to the membership coordinator.

NOTE: if you are paying by check in a foreign currency, please click here to check current exchange rates.

PAYING BY CREDIT CARD VIA PAYPAL: Save the filled-out form as a PDF and send it as an attachment to an email addressed to the Membership Coordinator and Treasurer. Finally, make your payment by credit card (via PayPal), following these instructions:

  1. Go to www.paypal.com and sign up, or login (for people who already have signed up)
  2. When you are logged in, a screen will pop up with account information. Click on the tab that says "SEND MONEY"
  3. When the next screen comes up, enter the ASAO Treasurer's E-mail address mmccutch@gmu.edu
  4. Enter the amount you want to send.
  5. Categorize the payment as "services/other".
  6. Click "continue".
  7. Review your payment and send it.
