Call for Sessions:
Asao 2021 Virtual Meeting

The Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania (ASAO) warmly invites proposals for sessions for its virtual meeting, which will be held from 4 February 2021 to 7 February 2021.

ASAO is an international scholarly society dedicated to the anthropology of the Pacific which welcomes anyone interested in the lives of Pacific people, including scholars working in Native/Indigenous Studies, Pacific Studies, Cultural Studies, and other disciplines. Our meetings are small, intimate, informal, and cooperative.

Submissions for sessions were open from 20 October to 24 November and are now closed.

We will use a video conferencing system similar to Zoom to hold synchronous panels in three time zones: Morning Pacific (9am to noon Suva time), Afternoon Pacific (1 to 4pm Suva time), and an Atlantic Rim zone (9am to noon New York City time).

To download a visual timetable of panel sessions, click here (organized by time zone) or here (organized alphabetically).

Registration will be greatly reduced compared to our in-person conference, and while we are still hammering out the details we expect it will be US$50 or less.

Session organisers may opt to record their sessions and post them for later viewing -- we will leave this to their discretion.

Want to submit a paper to ASAO? Please wait until our list of sessions is announced and then contact the organisers of the session(s) in which you would like to participate. All papers are refereed by session organisers.

For more information, read these tips for session organisers.

Have a question or need more information? Please email the program coordinator, Alex Golub, at golub@hawaii.edu
