Welcome, Members and Friends of ASAO!
The Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania (ASAO) is delighted to be holding our Annual Meeting 12-15 February 2025 in Nadi, Fiji at the beautiful Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort.
ASAO meetings are intimate, discussion-based, and cooperative. Students, community members, and anyone else with an interest in the peoples, places, and cultures of Oceania are welcome to join us.
Please note this event is in-person only. We are not able to support virtual or hybrid participation.

Payment Information
Pre-registration and online payment is strongly encouraged and much appreciated. We accept payment through Paypal or debit/credit card. If you are not able to use these methods, you may pre-register online and pay with cash (USD or FJD) at the meeting registration desk. Registration cancellations will be accepted until Monday, 10 February 2025.
Conference Sessions and Programme
Early proposals for continuing and new sessions for 2025 can be found in the April 2024 Newsletter. Updates will be published in the September and December newsletters and the draft programme will be available by the end of January.
2025 Distinguished Lecture
The 2025 ASAO Distinguished Lecture will be given by Paige West and John Aini.
Accommodation
A limited number of rooms in the meeting hotel are available for booking at a special rate (deal expires 10 November 2024). See our Venue page for more information.
Information for Pacific Islander Attendees
This year, we are pleased to offer a reduced registration rate for Fiji residents in thanks to the people of Fiji for hosting our meeting.
Researchers and scholars from the Pacific participating in ASAO sessions are encouraged to apply for the Pacific Island Scholars Award (PISA), a competitive, prestigious award to abate the costs of travel, membership, and registration.
