The application process is open for the 2022 Pacific Islands Scholars Award (PISA)! This competitive, prestigious award supports attendance and participation by Pacific Islands scholars at ASAO meetings through travel awards and waivers of meeting registration and membership fees. We look forward to welcoming an outstanding group of PISA awardees at the 2022 ASAO meeting in Portland, OR.

IMPORTANT: NEW US TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Attention International Travelers: The CDC is requiring 2 things for entry to the US. This applies to PISA awardees traveling to the Portland meeting from outside of the US. Everyone must show: 1) Proof of full vaccination and 2) a negative viral covid test.
Vaccination must be with one of the WHO approved vaccines (a list can be found here: https://covid19.trackvaccines.org/agency/who/) Travel must start 14 days after your accepted single-dose vaccine or 14 days after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose vaccine.
A Negative COVID test can be a rapid or PCR viral test, but can NOT be an antibody test which is usually done with a blood sample. A negative test is required even though you are vaccinated. Travelers who meet the above requirements do NOT need to quarantine upon entering the US. Masks and other COVID safety procedures will be required during travel.

We strongly encourage you to review the full PISA Travel Award Instructions (available for download here) before preparing your application
All materials must be received by November 1 at 11:59pm EST.
Once you have joined a session by contacting the session organizer (see the descriptions of proposed sessions and organizer contact information in the September ASAO newsletter), assemble ALL of the following documents:

- A completed application form (link to form is below)
- A signed applicant statement/cover letter
- Title and abstract of your paper
- The name and email address of the session organizer (please contact your session organizer in advance of submitting your application)
- A PDF copy of your airfare quote from a travel agent or online airline or travel booking website (lowest price economy roundtrip airfare)
- A current CV
- Students are welcome to submit a letter of recommendation from their supervisor, although this is not required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
For those who apply for PISA for the 2022 meeting:
- Notifications will be made to awardees by November 15, 2021. Awards must be accepted by December 15, 2021.
- Itineraries and receipts must be submitted by January 5, 2022 for disbursement at the annual meetings.
